Follow the Canal de l’Ourcq greenway, then the Canal Saint-Martin, and on through the historic centre. On the Île de la Cité, Notre-Dame is the highlight of the route with its flamboyant Gothic architecture.
Since the fire in April 2019, the cathedral has been partially rebuilt. It is now open to the public. Once the restoration is fully complete, visitors will be able to enjoy the spectacular view of Paris from its roof, with its famous gargoyles and chimeras.

Three other major cycle routes pass through Paris : the Seine à Vélo, the London-Paris Greenway and the Véloscénie.

Itinerary Eurovelo3, recommended by CTE

Arriving from the Bondy footbridge on the cycle path on the right bank of the Ourcq Canal, you reach Paris at the Bassin de la Villette.

At the Stalingrad roundabout, follow the Saint Martin Canal to Place de la République.

We finally reach the Seine at the edge of the Marais via shared lanes (bus lanes or lanes with a speed limit of 30 km/h).

You should be careful when crossing large crossroads.

  • Pantin: Former Grands Moulins de Paris mills renovated
  • Paris
    • Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie and Géode
    • La Villette Park and Basin
    • Saint-Martin Canal Locks
    • Sainte-Chapelle
    • Notre-Dame and Archaeological Crypt
    • The Louvre…
  • Nearby, you can visit the Pompidou Centre, the Marais district and the Place des Vosges…
There’s plenty of choice, but watch out for tourist traps.

Bustling markets and cuisine from every continent in the Saint-Martin area, with terraces around the Bassin de la Villette.

There are several bike shops along the canals and near République.
