CyclotransEurope rides

What better way to promote the EuroVelo route than by organising cycle tours along its route? That is exactly what the CyclotransEurope association has been doing every summer since 2001.
It began modestly in May 2001, lasting four days between Creil and Orléans. Then, from 2003 onwards, it took place in July over several weeks. In 2007, the tour ventured beyond France for a Maastricht–Namur–Paris route
In 2010, in partnership with the association Dynamobile, the tour ran from Berlin via Brussels.

For over a decade now, with the rise of cycle tourism, CyclotransEurope has also been exploring other routes, both in France and across Europe.

The walks are open to everyone. The routes are carefully chosen. Always pleasant, they follow towpaths, forest tracks, greenways and small roads, staying as far away from motor traffic as possible.

Accommodation is either in permanent establishments (youth hostels, stopover gîtes, small hotels, etc.) or at campsites, for cyclists who enjoy cycle-camping, with priority given to accommodation with the Accueil Vélo label.
The route is flexible; you choose the number of stages you wish to complete.

For more information on this year’s ride, see below.
Don’t miss the posters for the CyclotransEurope rides.

In 2026, the summer hike will follow an easy route along the Moselle, the charming Canal des Vosges, the Saône and the Rhône. It heads towards the Mediterranean Sea, from Metz to Montpellier, via Dijon, Lyon and Avignon. For further details, please see the page dedicated to this hike.

In 2025, the ride offered the chance to explore, and even cycle through, Poland from Kraków to Gdańsk. In 2024, the ride took place in France, following the waterways, from Versailles to Royan. In 2023, the Great European ride took place in the heart of Europe, from Metz to Strasbourg.

It should be noted that, from 2021 onwards, the association organised a six-day family bike ride for five years. In 2025, the ride followed the V42, the Vélomaritime and the Régalante routes from Vitré to Rennes.

This European ride will be part of a general movement for the success of The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP21 , which will take place in Paris as of the 30 of November 2015. CyclotransEurope has taken a number of initiatives to inform and sensitize people on alternative projects.

– A bicycle ride “Cycling for Climate” Copenhagen-Brussels-Paris on Eurovelo3, involving groups of children and teen-agers
– Inauguration of the Climate Change Conference with a bike meeting in Le Bourget on November 30
– Creation of a cycle route between Paris and the seat of the COP21 Conference in Le Bourget, to last until the end of the conference, with COP21 marks all along the route.
– Stand in the village of civil society in the COP21, with a conference on the place of bikes in the fight against climate change.
– Meetings, press conferences,activities of different kinds…

This long bike ride will be a touristic, cultural, ecological and family adventure.
The route to be followed will be mostly the “Eurovélo3”, including small roads, forest lanes, towpaths , green ways… with the constant pleasure of cycling away from the road traffic.

Our Trans-European rides are friendly, open to all, children, adults of all ages. They follow green paths, quiet roads, away from the traffic.
A la carte participation : you join us for the number of days you wish, and choose the kind of accomodation you like : hotels, inns, holiday cottages, or campsite. These rides offer new way of travelling, respectful of the environment.

From Copenhagen, the ride will lead the “Eurovelo3″ route to the west, follow the veloroute until Namur and then, by a short diversion, Brussels, the European Capital. The ride met again the veloroute at Maubeuge and follow the route until Paris.
